MMGCC 52nd Anniversary at Far Hills Inn In 2004, the Montreal MG Car Club was itching to have another weekend outing as more than a year had passed following the successful 50th Anniversary get together in Knowlton. Many venues were discussed, and the Far Hills Inn near Val-Morin was selected as the location for our 52nd Anniversary celebration. Far Hills was at the time renowned for its gourmet food and, at only an hour or so drive from Montreal, a perfect distance for our cars. Far Hills was gracious in extending a very affordable room rate for the weekend of 18-20 June 2004 and the 52nd anniversary outing was finalized. Far Hills was composed of two buildings for their accommodations and we were provided the Cedar Lodge as the exclusive building for the club. Following a caravan drive up the Autoroute (a mistake as we should have taken the 117 for a more pleasant drive), arrival and check-in at the Inn was completed. The Agenda shown below allowed ample time for personal recreation and touring of Val-David, St Agathe etc. The weekend would include nice dinners, social time, and a Rally !
Following in the success of the 50th Anniversary Car Rally organized by Dick Hamilton, this rally was organized for the Saturday requiring a driver and navigator in each vehicle. This was not a standard rally with check points – rather a rally scavenger hunt whereby each vehicle needed to determine the location of a random series of photographs along the route by identifying which side of the road each picture was taken and the distance from the start. The rally route was actually pre-defined and precise route instructions provided to each vehicle along with the pictorial clues (a sample provided below). The organizer thought that this would take roughly an hour and a half or so based on the route being pre-defined (wrong as several cars managed to get lost and finish 3 hours later). The Saturday evening 5 course dinner followed the rally and awards were presented in the lounge of the Cedar Lodge. A series of memorable billiards games followed with an offer from one of the wives (who hopped onto the billiard table) to be the prize for the eventual winner. A successful and memorable weekend was concluded with a line-up in front of the Inn on Sunday morning

Le 52e anniversaire du MMGCC à l'auberge Far Hills En 2004, le MMGCC s'enlignait sur une sortie de fin de semaine, plus d'un an après les célébrations du 50e anniversaire à Knowlton. Après des discussions intensives sur le lieu de célébration du 52e, le choix tomba sur l'Auberge Far Hills, près de Val Morin. À l'époque, l'établissement, en plus d'être à une heure de route de Montréal, jouissait d'une excellente réputation culinaire. L'Auberge nous offrit même des tarifs d'hébergement spéciaux pour le week-end du 18 au 20 juin, ce qui finalisa l'entente! Les membres du Club furent logés dans l'un des deux pavillons, le Cedar Lodge, avec usage exclusif. La caravane se mit en route sur la A-15 (mais la route 117 aurait été un meilleur choix car plus scénique), et l'arrivée et l'enregistrement suivirent. Le programme, ci-joint, atteste du temps libre pour les activités de loisir et touristiques à Val David, Ste-Agathe, etc.. Incluent également furent les bons repas, la socialisation et, un Rally
C'est en misant sur le succès du rally du 50e anniversaire organisé par Dick Hamilton, que pilotes et navigateurs prirent place en ce samedi dans leurs véhicules. Ce rally inhabituel ne comprenait pas de check-points, mais plutôt des "chasses de pilleurs" lors desquelles chaque voiture se devait de trouver la localisation de photos inédites tout au long de la route, déterminer de l'angle de celles-ci ainsi que leur éloignement de la ligne de départ. L'itinéraire était prédéterminé et des instructions précises comprenant des indices picturaux furent transmises aux voitures (voir l'exemple ci-bas). Selon les organisateurs, le tout devait prendre environ une heure et demi compte tenu des indices (foutaise puisque certains se sont perdus et sont réapparus 3 heures plus tard!). Par la suite, un souper de 5 services fut servi en soirée et des prix présentés dans le hall du Lodge. Et là, s'ensuivit une série de partie de billard mémorables suite à l'annonce de l'une des épouses présentes (juchée sur l'une des tables) qu'elle constituerait le prix du gagnant! Ce week-end mémorable et fort réussi se termina sur l'alignement des voitures devant l'Auberge le dimanche matin
